Why it Works
The combination of a 33° ramp and the 12mm vertical rise provides an extra measure of grip for your back foot. While the ramp handles the drive, the vertical rise acts as a secondary "catch" for your heel or toe, ensuring your foot stays exactly where it needs to be when the G-forces load up.

Our patented 12mm vertical rise kick tail with a 33 degree ramp creates a comfortable pocket for your foot and delivers the highest level of control and power when executing snaps, carves and airs of any RIKT kick tail. That extra 12mm at the top makes a difference beginning and pro surfers can feel immediately and like all RIKT kick tails, the ramp is angled perfectly for surfing and helps you nail extreme maneuvers without slipping off your board.
This vertical rise kick tail allows you to push harder against your tail without falling and pull off much more aggressive maneuvers with the confidence of knowing your back foot is secure.
This kick tail comes in three colors: Black, Clear and Translucent Gray. The clear color is beautiful during the day and if your board has colors you can see the colors right through the kick tail! This clear kick tail can also be lit up by placing removable LED lights (available here at our online shop) inside the kick tail before mounting onto your surfboard. A great option for night surfing at your favorite wave pool!
Translucent Gray is seriously edgy and black defines a hard core surf move. All three colors are super cool with almost any board color. This kick tail is a favorite of our team rider Kalani Garcia. If you have large feet (think size 12 and up) this is the kick tail for you!
This kick tail is interchangeable with any other RIKT kick tail. All of the plastic RIKT kick tails work great with wax for grip. The plastic kick tails feel like an extension of your surfboard and our riders tell us that wax on their kick tail grips as good as EVA foam traction so whether or not you choose wax or foam under your back foot is not so much a matter of grip but what you like to feel under your feet because both work equally well.
This kick tail requires an optional RIKT Stingray mounting plate.
IMPORTANT INFORMATION
RIKT interchangeable kick tails deliver the highest level of performance in the RIKT system, but they require a smooth deck surface for proper adhesion.
For best results:
- New boards are ideal.
- Used boards must be free of deep pressure dings where the mounting plate will be installed.
- The deck must be completely clean and free of wax or residue before installation.
If your board has heavy pressure dings in the tail area, we recommend choosing a Grip 2 traction pad with an integrated kick instead of an interchangeable setup.
