The Grip 1 traction pad is a three piece design that goes in front of any interchangeable kick tail. It installs on top of the Stingray mounting plate and comes with and without subtle arch support. For those who like the feel of foam under their back foot, this is the way to ride a RIKT. The Stingray plate can be waxed so you have the option of wax or foam for grip.

RIKT Grip 1 Traction Pad
The Grip 1 Traction Pad is a three-piece front pad designed to mount on the deck of your surfboard directly in front of your RIKT interchangeable kick tail.
It’s available in two versions — with or without arch support.
Whether you choose the flat or arched option, when paired with a RIKT kick tail, the result is a powerful, balanced setup built for control, leverage, and progression.
Combined with a RIKT kick tail, this setup helps you push harder, and increase the performance of every board you ride.
Installation & Adhesion (Important)
For maximum adhesion and long-term performance, proper installation matters.

Install when the board temperature is between 70°F and 100°F

After installation, keep the board at this temperature for 72 hours before exposure to water
During this curing period, the 3M adhesive bonds significantly more strongly than if the pad is applied and surfed immediately.
If you live in a colder climate (such as the UK, New Jersey during winter, or anywhere ambient temperatures are below 70°F):

Gently warm the board with a hair dryer during installation

Bring the board indoors for the full 72-hour cure period
This simple step dramatically improves bond strength and long-term reliability.

Why Grip 2 Is a Safe Choice
Grip 2 traction pads feature an integrated kick tail, meaning there is no mounting plate (used with our interchangeable kick tail systems) and no additional hardware required. It installs just like a standard traction pad, making it a simple and reliable choice for surfers who want high performance without added complexity.
Installation
Installs just like a standard traction pad using high-strength adhesive.
For best results:
- Thoroughly remove all wax, dirt, and residue before installing
- Apply at temperatures between 70°F–100°F
- Allow 72 hours of cure time before water exposure
Following these steps ensures maximum bond strength and long-term durability.
Important Note
RIKT traction pads are designed to handle significantly more force than standard pads. Allowing the adhesive to fully cure before surfing is essential to ensure proper bonding and long-term performance.
